Mayfield House Psychology lab, University of Brighton, Brighton

Brighton University contracted with JG&JR Langridge for the refurbishment of an existing ground floor space in Mayfield House on their Falmer campus.

The space was to be converted into a Psychology experimental and qualitative facility, providing six new sound proof interview/experimental testing booths, a Qualitative Laboratory, and general open learning space. A touch down facility was also to be provided for students in the entrance foyer.

The works included a general strip out of finishes, partitions etc and the construction of acoustic partitions and doors, floor finishes, suspended ceilings, shelving, desks and decorations together with associated Ventilation, Electrical and IT installations.

JG&JR Langridge produced a high quality job, carried out whilst the building remained occupied, on a very tight time schedule to ensure that the facility was ready for use at the start of the new semester.

Importantly, they also ensured that snags were picked up and rectified prior to Practical Completion and presented a draft Final account to the Contract Administrator within a few weeks of completion.

The University’s Psychology department was delighted with the final product which enhances the appeal and learning experience opportunities to their existing and prospective students and research staff
